Great information ! I was waiting for your recommendation, but I guess that this really is an individual preference and all these things should be taken into consideration. I recently moved from Texas to florida, and I left all my mattresses behind and they were only about a year old. I just couldn’t get into moving them. But, I ended up going to the mattress store as they had a 70% off sale on the floor models of the sleep number beds. I bought one and this has been the best decision regarding a mattress. Folks, don’t go cheap. Go with something that will keep your body healthy and comfortable. I used to snore and my arms used to tingle at night, so much that I could not get a good nights sleep. They no longer tingle, no matter what position I am in and my son says I no longer snore. I used to wake up ALL the time, and now get a wonderful nights sleep. A good mattress is important!

Thanks. Sometimes it difficult finding the right one. Try your mattress before buying it. Don’t make the extra cost for your health because of the wrong mattress. Thanks for sharing your experience here.

Henryan, I never realized the importance until I read your article that my mattress and pillow selections do play a vital part in how I not only sleep; but also how my body reacts with pain when the choices are not optimal.

I also agree that a medium firm mattress is the better option to have a restful sleep and not wake up with lower back pain. I didn’t know that memory foam can have an adverse affect because of possible chemicals that may be contained in the foam itself.

Great advice also on how to shop, select, and purchase your mattress so that it is tailor made for me.

Thanks Phildora for your comment. Hope you find something valuable here. Please come back for an update.

In the last 10 years, my husband and I had changed mattresses’ 8 times. I know it sounds crazy. We just can’t get it right between the 2 of us. We both have low back pains for different reasons. Problem starts when we get a new mattress… it seems great for the first few weeks but then pain starts again. We tried many brands and types… We finally settled for a 4K mattress and it’s OK. It’s an ongoing issue for us unfortunately.

Wow, you change a lot of mattresses. I hope the 4k mattress can solve your problem. Just remember before you buy a mattress try it first. Find a store or online store that offer a free trial. You and your husband can try it and return if you don’t like it. Thanks for sharing your experience here.

Picking out a mattress in the store is so difficult. I know most places will give you a trial period to try it at home, but trying to find the right one that you want to take home is a challenge. I have chronic low back pain, and I have trouble finding a mattress that offers enough support where I need it. I am also a very restless sleeper, which might be due to my back issues. I have found that just because a mattress is expensive, doesn’t mean it will work for you. I really like a mattress that will maintain a cool temperature, as I tend to get warm at night. Do you have any opinions on Tuft and Needle? They seem to be popular at the moment.

I think you have to heal your chronic back pain first. Maybe you should consult with your doctor about your back pain, you have to know what cause of your back pain? So you will know how to deal with it. Is it because of overweight or maybe sedentary or others? Yes, I know about Tuft and Needle, they got a lot of positive reviews and the price is also affordable. Thanks for your comment Steve. Here some tips for your back pain

    Great article!
I’ve been suffering from periodic lower back pain since about the age of 12, and still haven’t found a reliable way of dealing with it. I’ve been sleeping on a tougher mattress than usual in the past year and it has helped, but I still get uncomfortable occasionally. Can you recommend some reliable online mattress stores?

I hope you find a solution for your back pain problem. you can find it here, I post many things about how to deal with back pain. About online mattress store, I suggest you choose an online store that has a free trial for their mattress. So can try it and return if you don’t like it.

I believe that a quality mattress is something that is worth investing in. The cheaper you go the least effective it will be at combating lower back pain.

From my understanding this is the most common type of back pain. I think it has a lot to do with bad posture.

I think that it is very important to test drive your mattress before confirming that the one you have your eye on is the best choice. There is a huge difference in laying down on it in the store and using it for 30-90 days.

I also believe that era of coils is over with. They really don’t do much in terms of comfort. I think they mainly provide a surface to lay on. Memory foam beds are truly where the money is at.

A bed that can conform to your individual needs is priceless. A good nights sleep is very important and that is hard to do when your in pain and rolling around.

Great comment Justin. Quality mattress something worth investing in. I couldn’t agree more with anything you say. Thanks for the comment
